I just bought a book that I spied at Book Soup this weekend (while picking up tickets to see and hear Neil Gaiman speak *badly out of character schoolgirl giggle*). It is called <a href=:http://www.powells.com/cgi-bin/partner?partner_id=26017&cgi=search/search/&searchtype=kw&searchfor=Michael%20Rosen%20101%20Damnations” target=“_blank”>101 Damnations, and was compiled and edited by Michael Rosen. It is a collection of short pieces written by 101 humorists about their pet peeves. I have only read the first 10 or so, but it is proving to be both a chortle in and of itself, as well as a valuable resource as a way to preview different authors.
As I read this, I am listening to Here Comes…El Son, a cd filled with Cuban remakes of Beatles tunes. I haven’t smiled so much listening to music since our purchase of Josh Roseman’s Cherry. I mean, really, what could be as good as “Don’t Be Cruel” on trombone, than a Cuban “Hello, Goodbye”.
Other new, happy additions: The latest Bust, Adbusters, and Organic Gardening.
