Thank you, Tom:

Indeed. Indeed…
When I learn to incorporate not just the knowledge of that quote, but the APPLICATION of that quote, i’ll know i’ve come quite a’ways.
I’ll try to keep you honest Ms Kristin, just try to do the same for me in return ;) Empathy can only go so far before A-C-T-I-O-N is needed!

The correct quote is
“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space lies our freedom and power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our happiness.” This quote is included in Stephen Covey’s book “The Seven Habits of Highly Successful Families”. He credits the quote to anonymous book he found in the back of a library.

Thank you for your comment. It got me to do some serious research into the true origin and wording of the quote, and I found out that, although it is often attributed to Covey, it is only quoted in his book (as you mentioned). It is, however, quite an easy quote to track down, and I am embarassed that I took the attribution I first found as fact without doing any research. This quote was written by Victor Frankl in Man’s Search for Meaning as follows:
My issues with Covey will have to be saved for another post.
