If I were a religious person, I would believe that I, as well as our country, had been abandoned by God… but I am not. I do despair, though, since it has been abandoned by its people. I wish it were harder for me to believe that our country is so blind to international opinion, that its people are so hoodwinked by a corrupt administration, myriad times caught — on tape no less — lying about important things, about things that affect us, our country (rather than lying about something personal that was no one’s business to begin with), and who we keep around (“we” being a relative term) because its figurehead reminds us of our pseudo-Christian (WWJD? lesse.…war, war, war, cour only the rich and powerful, polute, coddle corporations.…yep, now he is one Christian man), misogynistic, homophobic, xenophobic, alcoholic, illiterate, bullying frat-boy days, and because he seems to be a stalwart leader simply because he never learns, never grows, never changes his mind (or so he says — video has proven otherwise) while the other guy voted one way when being lied to, and another way when he found out the lie, proving his ability to learn and change and admit when he was wrong. I wish that this was all the joke the rest of the world sees it to be (although they and I agree that it is a very scary joke). I despair. I despair for our freedom, for my child, for this country, for the future, for my sanity. Come on, stragglers.

We must take back this country. You may yet see the fire lit beneath my political ass motivate me to donate much of my time to turning this nation of ours around and get it headed in a more worldly and positive direction.
These are telling times for all of us I think.
COMMENT:
Syndromes, please clarify. Do you mean worldly as in caring about the rest of the world or worldly as in ignoring moral values?
Let me take a stab at this:
Worldly as in focused on that which benefits us all: our country, all countries, the whole world. This would include what some would call “morality”, although not necessarily the “morality” passed on by those who are certain that the only true morality can be passed on by religion (not spirituality, not common sense, not natural do-unto-otherness, but dogmatic religion). And I have a hard time believing that morality is high on the list of anyone who puts the money first, before the poor, the ill, the children, those who are different in any way, the majority of the world’s countries; before telling the truth, before playing fair, before taking care of the ecological health of the earth… I can be moral without being religious. This administration, however, is the very definition of hypocrasy, and no one in it is anyone I want my child learning morals from: “Smoo, above all else, befriend the rich, and hold their attentions and needs dearer than those of the poor and downtrodden. If you are asked a question, avoid talking (about your service record, about wmd, about whatever) if you can, and if you can’t, lie, and blame other’s for being wishy-washy when what they did was react to your lies. Etc. ad nauseum.”
*sigh*
I am sorry if I sound snippy but I am always saddened when people assume that religion makes a person moral, and that professing faith forgives a person all their transgressions. WWJD? Honestly, if anyone in the current (*sob*) administration even began comparing himself to Jesus, Jesus himself would cry over his message having been that completely misunderstood.
I guess my point on worldly was that it has a certain connotation to ME probably based on the way I was raised, and I didn’t want to judge Syndromes comment until I understood exactly what he meant…if that makes sense. :)
Hugs K. We may not agree politically all the time, but I respect your opinion and I’m sad you guys are frustrated and upset with the way things are.
